Spain: COVID State Of Emergency Comes To End As Situation Improves

After almost seven months, the authorities in Spain revoked the state of emergency declared due to COVID-19. The emergency was declared in October 2020 and it gave the government right to impose restrictions such as night curfew or banning the travel. "We're getting a bit of normality back, of freedom, but we have to keep in mind that the virus is still around," stated a citizen in Barcelona.

Indian Archer Sukhbeer Singh Plans To Quit Sport Over Financial Hardships

Indian Archer Sukhbeer Singh has planned to quit sport after the Punjab sports committee failed to reward him as promised. Singh, who is planning to move Canada mentioned that he cannot rely anymore on his family as the financial conditions worsened during the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier, the Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Sodhi had announced to honour Singh after he won gold medal in Spain, but failed to do so.

Spain: New 'State Of Emergency' Declared To Contain COVID-19 Spread

To contain the coronavirus transmission, Spain's PM Pedro Sanchez on October 25 announced a new 'State of Emergency'. Under this, a night curfew will be imposed in all parts of the country except the Canary Island and just 6 persons will be allowed to meet. The PM is willing to extend this till May 2021. However, he will have to secure the Parliament's approval for extension after every 15 days.
