J&K Govt Kick-Start Children's Vaccination Drive

The first vaccination drive for children between the age group of 15-18 years, was kick-started by government of Jammu & Kashmir on January 3. Officials said that 822 vaccination sites have been set up across twenty districts of the union territory. Additional Chief Secretary of Health & Medical Education Department Vivek Bharadvaj said that it is a special day for Kashmir, as "8.33 lakh children will be vaccinated" in J&K.

Night Temperature Rises In Ladakh And J&K Following Rain & Snowfall

The night temperature in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh region increased, with fresh rain and snowfall. An official in the Indian meterological department, on January 2, has said that Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K recorded a low temperature of 0.3°C, while the city also recorded rainfall of 1.2mm last night. The mercury at Gulmarg settled at -6.2°C, with snowfall of 4.2 cms.

Srinagar Administration Retrieves State Land Worth Rs 25 Crore: Jammu & Kashmir

Administration in Srinagar, Kashmir retrieved over 46 Kanal and 17 Marla State Land, worth Rs 25 crore, during a massive anti-encroachment drive. Launched on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz, the land encroachment drive would be conducted sternly as per law & order. The DC sought cooperation of people in its action against encroachments.

Jammu & Kashmir Reports 123 Fresh COVID-19 Cases

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir reported 123 fresh COVID-19 cases on December 31, officials said. They said that 65 of the fresh cases were reported from Kashmir Division, while 58 were reported from Jammu, taking the overall tally to 341290. Moreover, 78 COVID-19 patients recovered during the time. Out of 78 recovered patients, 61 are from Kashmir Division, and 17 from Jammu.

Srinagar Kashmir's Coaching Centres To Go For Mass Vaccination Of Students

To prevent COVID-19 third-wave from spreading, and to stop the Omicron to enter valley, coaching centers in Kashmir have decided to go for vaccination of students. The decision was taken in a joint meeting of Coaching centers & Private schools association J&K, under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, Dr.Jameel. In the meeting, it was decided that mass vaccination will cover the age group from 15 to 18 years.

Authorities In Srinagar Fails To Implement COVID-19 SOPs

Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the authorities Srinagar, failed to implement SOPs, to prevent further spread of the virus. Most of the people don't adhere to COVID SOPs, like wearing masks, social distancing, and others. Besides, regulation by concerned department is also not strict, as people are seen neglecting norms. "It's an invitation to the third wave, Omicron will spread like a fire, if we will not follow SOPs," said experts.

Unidentified Militant Killed By Security Forces In Srinagar: J&K

In the Darbagh Dhara area of Srinagar's Harwan, an unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in the early hours of December 19. The police also confirmed that an encounter broke out and an unidentified militant was killed. Furthermore, searches in the area have also been launched. Kashmir Witnesses Extreme Cold Wave; Srinagar Records -2.4 Degrees Celsius

Kashmir witnessed an extreme cold wave as the minimum temperature hit below the freezing point. Srinagar recorded minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded minus 4.1 degrees Celsius on December 3. Furthermore, Gulmarg's temperature was minus 1 degrees Celsius, where as the mercury in Kupwara recorded minus 2.8 degrees Celsius.
