Thiruvananthapuram

In Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, near Kallambalam, five members of a family including two minor children were found dead. A man was found hanging, and the other four were found lying dead on the ground, suspected to have consumed poison. According to the police, it is a case of suspected suicide, however further conclusions can only be made after detailed probe. The matter came to light when a relative paid a visit.

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced a power tariff hike of 6.6% across the state, on June 25. This is the first power tariff hike in three years. Kerala reported 54,537 new COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths, on January 28. While the total death toll stands at 52,786. The new cases were confirmed after conducting 1,15,898 COVID-19 tests. Ernakulam reported 10,000 cases and 6,735 cases in Thiruvananthapuram. President of India Ram Nath Kovind on December 21, will begin his four-day visit to Kerala.  During the visit, between December 21-24, he will attend various programs in Kerala. As per an official release, President Kovind will address the fifth convocation of the Central University of Kerala in Kasargod, witness the Navy operational demonstration in Kochin and unveil a statue of P.N. Panicker in Thiruvananthapuram. 

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor received immense backlash after tweeting a video claiming to be of the Malayali Taliban. "It sounds as if there are at least two Malayali Taliban here — one who says “samsarikkette” around the 8-second mark & another who understands him!", tweeted Tharoor. However, he stood his ground while sharing an article that quoted intelligence reports saying eight IS Keralites were among the freed prisoners.
