Brazilian Government Repealed Mangrove Protection Rules; Ecologists Warn of Disasters
The Brazilian government on September 28, repealed the mangrove conservation including the coastal ecosystem norms. Environmentalists criticized the decision, warning the government of the disastrous effect on the ecosystem. The regulations aimed at protecting tropical mangroves and the sand-dune scrubland, on the Atlantic coast. Earlier, the Bolsonaro regime tried to weaken the Environment Council by reducing its strength and placing more of its people and repealing green permits required for irrigation projects.
