"Are Slip Fielders Allowed to Stand Next to Me?": M S Dhoni
MS Dhoni is well-known for his ability to turn serious situations into light-hearted ones. During the toss for IPL 2020 opener, the Chennai Super Kings captain asked the match referee if he would be allowed to have a slip-fielder close to the wicket-keeper. The funny statement came after IPL organisers followed strict physical distancing norms during the match. For toss, both the captains, Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, along with Match referee Manu Nayyar, were asked to stand atleast four feet away from each other. Even during the post-match presentation, Dhoni commented that it doesn’t feel the same. Dhoni was asked to stand away from the commentator during the post-match talk. The best performers of the game were also directed to collect their merits that were kept at a podium. Earlier, CSK won the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians after a stellar 115-run partnership between Ambati Rayudu and Faf Du Plessis.
