Assam Congress Chief Ripun Bora Resigns As Party Suffers "Humiliating" Loss
President of Assam Congress Ripun Bora on May 2 tendered his resignation from the post following the party's "humiliating defeat" in Assam Assembly elections 2021. In his letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Bora said he was "extremely saddened and disheartened" for failing to combat the BJP and RSS's "divisive and communal politics". Bora, who himself contested from Gohpur seat, lost to BJP's Utpal Borah by 29,294 votes.
