Centre Invites Non-Muslim Refugees To Apply For Indian Citizenship
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on May 28 commenced the application-collecting process from non-Muslim minorities residing in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan for the Indian citizenship. Besides, it has also invited applications from non-citizen Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Haryana. However, the laws under the Citizenship Amendment Act have not been framed yet due to the ongoing anti-CAA protests since 2019.
