India To Recoup 26 Million Hectares of Green Cover By 2030: Javadekar at UN
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that India aims to rejuvenate 26 million hectares of degraded and deforested land in next decade. While speaking at the UN Biodiversity Summit, Javadekar stated, currently 25% of India's land is under green cover, and the country has doubled the tiger population before the 2020 deadline. The minister also emphasized the government's commitment towards biodiversity through conventions on desertification(2019) and migratory-species(2020).
