Morgan, Cummins Shine Against Rajasthan To Keep Grim Playoff Hopes Alive
In the penultimate league game of the IPL 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins illuminated their team with a victory over Rajasthan Royals by 60 runs. Invited to bat first, KKR lost Rana in the first over. However, Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi played handy knocks with Morgan firing in the crucial match for Kolkata. Morgan’s unbeaten 68 from 35 balls propelled KKR to a tight total of 191 runs. Chasing the target, Rajasthan had chances to ooze through with lots of dew around on the ground; but Pat Cummins' beaming deliveries sent Uthappa, Stokes and Smith in quick succession. With Samson falling to Shivam Mavi, half of the Royals were back to dugout by fifth over for just 37. Later, as the required run-rate increased, Rajasthan kept losing wickets at regular intervals and succumbed to 131 for 9 after 20 overs. Currently, KKR stands at 4th in the table, keeping their grim playoff hopes alive.
