Tokyo Olympics: $542 Million Aquatics Centre Inaugurated
Tokyo Olympics organizers on October 24 unveiled new swimming venue for next year’s rescheduled Olympics. With a budget of $542 million, the 15,000-seat Aquatics Centre for swimming, diving, and artistic swimming finished construction in the month of February. The inauguration had been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Japanese athletes including Rikako Ikee swam during the opening ceremony. "I hope top athletes in the world will compete at this venue," said Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike.
