UAE's 'Al-Amal' Enters Mars Orbit; Becomes 5th Nation To Feat
Becoming first for the Arab world, UAE's spacecraft ‘Al-Amal’ (meaning 'Hope' in English) entered the Mars orbit on February 9 after seven months of launch. Interestingly, the UAE became the only fifth nation, after the US, Soviet Union, Europe and India, to successfully reach Mars orbit. Launched from Japan’s Tanegahima Space Centre on July 20, 2020, the mission will probe how neutral atoms of hydrogen and oxygen leak into space.
