Ahead of the UP Assembly elections, the BJP filed Union Minister SP Singh Baghel against Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the Samajwadi Party. Notably, SP Baghel and Akhilesh Yadav are contesting for the post of MLA in UP's Karhal constituency. The move comes after recognising the Dalit MP's strong hold in the said constituency for over a decade.

India's Tallest Man Joins Samajwadi Party: UP Assembly Polls
Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Elections, Dharmendra Pratap Singh, also India's tallest man, joined the Samajwadi Party on January 22. Dharmendra has shown his faith in party policies and President Akhilesh Yadav, stated SP. Singh faced a lot of problems due to his height and in finding employment. Akhilesh Yadav Knows He'll Lose In UP Election, Says Sidharth Nath Singh
Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls, UP Minister Sidharth Nath Singh lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. He said that Yadav knows he'll lose the elections, that's the reason he is making new excuses. "Yesterday he accused the Election Commission. Samajwadi Party Promises Rs 5 Lakh Compensation For Those Died In Bull Attack, If Voted In Power
The Samajwadi Party on December 28, has promised Rs 5 lakh compensation, to the families who lost their kin in bull fight. Taking to Twitter, party said, if voted in power, they will fulfil the promise, giving compensation amount. Notably, the UP Assembly polls are scheduled in 2022. In the 2017 elections, BJP bagged 312 seats, SP won 47 seats, BSP won 19 and Congress won only seven seats.

The Income Tax (IT) department raided residence of Rajeev Rai, the General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party (SP). The IT raids were carried out in Mau region, ahead of the UP Assembly elections in 2022. Speaking to media, Rajeev Rai said, he has no black money and criminal background and always helped people of the region. Besides Rajeev Rai's home, raids are being carried out in many regions in UP.

Akhilesh Yadav Found Innocent; Didn't Sign Petition To Commute Kasab's Death
On social media, several users claimed that Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav signed a petition with 302 people demanding a pardon for Mohammaed Ajmal Amir Kasab's death penalty. Ajmal Amir Kasab, a convict of the 2008 Mumbai attack. Reportedly, the claims have been found misleading and fake. Akhilesh Yadav Visits Family Of Victim In Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: UP
Akhilesh Yadav, former CM of Uttar Pradesh paid a visit to the family of a farmer (Daljit Singh) who was killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Yadav demanded the resignation of Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Mishra Teni. "Untill the resignation is done, justice will not be given to these victims' families," he stated.
