Ahead of assembly polls in Uttar Pardesh, Congress party on January 30 released the fourth list. It includes 61 candidates, of which 24 women, taking the female MLA candidate to 127 in UP. The fourth list includes candidates from Rae-Bareli and Amethi. It is pertinent to mention that Congress gave 40% tickets to women, as promised. In addition, their manifesto also promises youth and women development in the State.

Ahead of the UP elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually interact with BJP workers in Varanasi, on January 18 at 11 am. After the announcement of the election, this will be the PM's first political interaction. Meanwhile, all the physical rallies have been suspended till January 22, due to Covid-19. The PM will give victory mantra to workers and ask them to inform people about welfare schemes, sources said.
Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls, UP Minister Sidharth Nath Singh lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. He said that Yadav knows he'll lose the elections, that's the reason he is making new excuses. "Yesterday he accused the Election Commission. Today, he wrote to the EC demanding suspension of government officers," Sidharth said. UP elections are scheduled on February 14 and counting will be held on March 10.
Ahead of the UP election in 2022, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on December 26, announced Central Government's invest of Rs 5 lakh crore for roads. He said, UP roads will be like America in the next five years, if the BJP voted in power again. Gadkari said, Vote for a double engine government in the upcoming elections. In the biggest development ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh election, Mayawati's party BSP removed Chillupar MLA Vinay Shankar Tiwari, his elder brother and former MP Kushal Tiwai from the party. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on November 14 said that her party will not contest in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election on all 403 seats in alliance with any party. She made the announcement at the Pratigya Sammelan -- Lakshya 2022 in Anoopshahr. Priyanka also advised the party workers to be active on social media platforms. Ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly election, Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Varanasi on November 12. During his two-day visit, Shah will hold meetings to discuss the election strategy. He'll discuss the strategy with the office bearers of 98 districts, in-charges of all 403 Vidhan Sabhas, and regional presidents. Meanwhile, senior BJP leaders, including CM Yogi Adityanath will also be present at the meeting.

While talking to the media, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on November 5 said that he would contest in the U.P assembly polls by next year. In the latest development ahead of the 2022 UP assembly election, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on November 1 announced that he's decided not to contest in the election. He also said, ''Our alliance with RLD is final. Seat sharing is to be finalised.'' Furthermore, Akhilesh added he ''don't have any problem'' to fight with his uncle Shivpal Yadav's Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL) in the upcoming election.
