PM Modi To Hold Public Rally In Firozpur, On Jan 5: Punjab Assembly Polls
PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Firozpur, on January 5, to attend a public rally. Ahead of the rally, he will launch a satellite centre at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMR) in Firozpur. The campaign rally holds a significance as it will be joined by former Punjab CM, Amarinder Singh and is first rally after the Central Government repelled the "Three Farm Laws".

Capt. Amarinder Sing Announces Alliance With BJP: Punjab Election
Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on December 6 said his party Punjab Lok Congress will contest the Punjab election in alliance with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Dhindsa's party. ''Our aim is to win the Punjab assembly election and we'll,'' said Singh in Chandigarh. The election for the 117 seats will be held in 2022. In 2017, the Aam Aadmi Party was the biggest rival of the Congress.

Kapil Sibal on Punjab Crisis: We Don't Know Who's Taking Decisions
Congress leader Kapil Sibal on September 29 said, "In our party, at the moment there is no President so we don't know who is taking (sic) these decisions. We know and yet we don't know." This comes after Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress chief two and a half months after his appointment. Earlier, Amarinder Singh resigned as Punjab CM saying he felt "humiliated".

Captain Amarinder Singh Resigns From Chief Minister's Post: Punjab
In the latest development, Amarinder Singh resigned from the Chief Minister post on September 18 just ahead of Assembly Election which is all set to hold in early 2022. Speculation over his resignation was taking around after he contacted Congress President Sonia Gandhi and said, "he felt humiliated for excess scrutiny". This political development was in action since September 17 after Congress in-charge Harish Rawat tweeted.

4,362 Constable Post Vacant In Punjab; Can Apply From July 15
Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has announced the recruitment drive of 4362-constable in the state police department on June 21. However, the process of registration will begin from July 15 and 33% among the total recruitment would be women's. Besides, the minimum qualification for the required post is class XII, along with a written test that will be conducted on Sep 25-26.

CM Amarinder Slams UP CM Yogi For Commenting Over Punjab's New Distt
Punjab CM Amarinder Singh lambasted UP CM Yogi Adityanath on May 15 over the latter's alleged hateful remarks on the formation of Malerkotla district in Punjab. Yogi had called the decision of declaring the Muslim-majority town a district as a "reflection of the divisive policy of the Congress". In response, Singh advised Yogi to stay out of his state's affairs, terming it a BJP's conspiracy to disrupt harmony in Punjab.

Punjab CM Requests BCCI To Reconsider Mohali Stadium As IPL Venue
Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has urged BCCI to reconsider Mohali stadium as one of IPL venues as he was "surprised" by its exclusion from IPL 2021 list. Singh also assured of arranging all safety measures in the context of COVID-19. Currently stadiums in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai have been shortlisted which will be finalized after BCCI's final call.
