Earthquake Of 4.8 Magnitude Jolts Andaman & Nicobar Islands
An earthquake of 4.8 magnitude jolted Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in the intervening night of July 8 and 9. Reportedly, the earthquake occurred at 2:34 am, and had a depth of 10 km. The incident occurred 233 km South East of Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) tweeted, "Earthquake of magnitude: 4.8 Occurred on 09-07-2022, 02:34:43 IST".

4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Andaman & Nicobar Islands
An earthquake of 4.3 magnitude on Richter scale jolted Andaman and Nicobar islands, on June 21. The earthquake had a depth of 10 km and occured 183 km southwest of Port Blair at around 7:15 am. According to a tweet made by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake had a latitude of 10.39 and longitude of 91.69.

Magnitude Of 4.9 Earthquake Reported In Andaman and Nicobar's Diglipur
The National Center for Seismology (NSC) said that an earthquake measuring magnitude 4.9 on the Richter scale struck North-Northwest of Andaman and Nicobar's Diglipur, on December 19. It was reported at a depth of 10 km from the surface and was located at 69 km NNW of Diglipur. So far, there are no reports of deaths and damage to property.

Andaman & Nicobar Island Achieves 100% Vaccination, Vaccinate 2.86 Lakh People
Andaman & Nicobar Island becomes first in India to achieve 100 % vaccination, under the "nationwide vaccination drive". The UT in a tweet said, "A&N achieved 100% COVID vaccine coverage making it first state/UT to achieve the feat using only Covishield. The UT Admin overcame Insurmountable odds for the extraordinary feat in one of the remotest parts of world." A total of 2.86 lakh people received both doses of vaccine.

Center To Invest Rs 11,040 Crore For Domestic Production Of Palm Oil
The Indian government on August 18 authorized the implementation of the National Mission on Edible Oils Oil Palm (NMEO-OP). The move will help in promoting the cultivation of palm oil in India for the coming five years. "Cabinet approved the NMEO-OP with a focus on the northeast region and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with a financial outlay of Rs 11,040 crore," said Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur.

Bangladeshi National, Ex-Counsellor Arrested For Illegal Documentation

New Genus Of Treefrog Discovered In Andaman Islands
What can be termed as an incredible discovery, a new genus of frog family was found in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. The new genus - Rohanixalus - was named after renowned Lankan taxonomist Rohan Pethiyagoda. Its size is up to 3 cm, with coloured strips filled with speckles. The research head SD Biju stated that the discovery would help in assuring faunal exchange between Andaman and Indo-Burma region.

4.3 Magnitude Earthquake Jolted Nicobar Islands
On September 6 early morning, the Nicobar Islands were jolted by a 4.3 magnitude earthquake. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) informed that the focus of the earthquake was 82 kilometres below the surface. The Andaman and Nicobar islands are regarded as seismically active regions and, hence, are categorized in Zone V.
