COVID-19 Booster Shots Mandatory Saudi Arabia Citizens Traveling Abroad

The Saudi Arabia government has made booster doses mandatory for its citizens who want to travel abroad. "Starting February 9, Saudis will be required to be fully vaccinated," ministry stated. However, before entry into the kingdom, the visitors need to present a negative RT PCR. The kids under 16 years and some people in exempted category on the Tawakkalna app do not need a have a booster dose to travel.

WHO Halts Booster Dose Program In High-Income Nations

WHO Chief Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has asked high-income nations to stall their booster doses as under-performing nations are facing vaccine supply shortages. "We cannot accept countries that have already used most of the global supply of vaccines using even more of it," he said. Besides, Germany and Israel have announced their plans for a third dose. Meanwhile, Haiti and Congo are struggling with the two-dose administration.

COVID-19 Booster: What Is It, How Far Is It Necessary?

The World Health Organisation Chief Scientist, Soumya Swaminathan stated that there are not enough scientific proofs in favour of COVID-19 booster shot after vaccination. However, UK's Health Secretary, Matt Hancock said that the booster shots may roll out soon in order to prevent another surge of COVID-19. Besides, several countries have considered to test a mixed combination of vaccines which seems to be successful so far.
