Colombian Schools May No Longer Require The Usage Of Face Masks
Colombian schools that satisfy certain conditions will be exempted from wearing face masks in confined places beginning on May 16, according to the Ministry of Health, which announced the change on May 13. Only schools with 70 percent of students and teachers fully vaccinated will be able to lift the mandate. Schools must also have 40 percent of their staff have received a booster dose.

"Otoniel" Colombia's Most-wanted Drug Smuggler Captured
Colombia's most-wanted drug smuggler, Dairo Antonio Usuga aka "Otoniel," was apprehended on October 23 by the Colombian authorities. Otoniel, leader of the Gulf Clan, which is the country's largest drug trafficking group, was detained in a rural region of the Department of Antioquia near the Panamanian border. Reportedly, he had been ''one of the most-wanted target for Colombia's most-wanted authorities''.

Tour de France: Cyclist Egan Bernal Quits After Suffering Back Pain
Defending Champion Egan Bernal withdrew from 'Tour de France' ahead of stage 17 after suffering back pain. The 23-year-old Columbian's title defence was brought to an end, after slipping behind by eight minutes in the pace, in the first major mountain stage where he finished in 16th position. "I agree that it is the right decision for me in the circumstances," Bernal said in a team statement.
