Kerala's Longest Serving Politician K R Gouri Passes Away At 102
Kerala’s longest serving politician and eminent CPI (M) leader K R Gouri died on May 11. Popularly known as Gouri Amma, the 102-year-old staunch communist stalwart was hospitalised since weeks. In her prolific eight-decade political career, Gouri is remembered for the Kerala Agrarian Relations Bill which paved way for land reforms. First elected in Nambooddiripad government of 1957, Gouri was elected 11 times for the state assembly.

Creating Record, Kerala BJP Fields Muslim Women In Local Body Polls
In a tactical move, Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to field two Muslim women to contest in the Kerala local body elections. The two candidates - TP Sulfath and Ayisha Hussain - will contest against the predominant Indian Union Muslim League in the panchayats of Malappuram district.
