India Records 15,906 New COVID-19 Cases; Recovery Stands At 98.17%
The Ministry of Health and Family on October 24 said India recorded 15,906 COVID-19 cases, and 16,479 recoveries in the last 24 hours. However, India's active cases stand at 0.51%, which is reported to be the lowest since March 2020. While the recovery stands at 98.17%, and the weekly and daily positive rate is 1.23% and 1.19% respectively. Also, India has administered 102.10 crore COVID-19 vaccines so far.

Kerala Reports 7,643 Fresh Cases, 10,488 Recoveries, 77 Deaths In 24 Hours
Kerala recorded 7,643 fresh cases and 77 deaths in the last 24 hours. On the brighter side, 10,488 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, making the total number of recoveries at 47,60,781. There are 80,262 active cases in the state as of October 19, whereas, there are 1,83,118 active cases across India. Notably, India's recovery rate stands at 98.14 percent, the highest since the start of the pandemic.

India Reports 18,987 New COVID-19 Cases; Recovery Stands At 98.07%
India recorded 18,987 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry on October 14. The new tally is 16% higher than the 15,823 cases reported on October 13. Meanwhile, India reported 19,808 new recoveries, taking the toll to 3,33,62,709. Reportedly, the recovery rate at 98.07% is the highest since March 2020. Besides, the death toll stands at 4,51,435 with 240 new cases.

Centre Asks Maharashtra & Kerala To Implement Night Curfew
The Centre has asked Maharashtra and Kerala to implement a night curfew in areas with high COVID-19 cases after the country-wide numbers rose to 32.6 million with 40,000 new cases daily. The celebration of Onam in Kerala has led to the state accounting for 60% of India's total cases. "More efforts would be required to arrest the increase in infections," the Home Affairs Ministry stated on August 26.

Insensitive Chinese Social Media Post Trolling India Deleted After Outrage
After facing media outrage and criticism, China has deleted a post shared by its law enforcement body wherein India was trolled for mishandling the pandemic. Reportedly, the "insensitive" post compared photos of China's Tianhe space module launch to India's mass cremation with caption "China lighting a fire versus India lighting a fire." The post was severely criticised by social media users in China.

COVID Positivity Rate Rises Only In Kerala; Other States Witness Decline
The COVID-19 positivity rate in Kerala has increased to 10% from 9.4%, making it the only Indian state where the rate is increasing. It is followed by Goa with 6%. However, no other Indian state is above the 5% level as the national positivity rate stood at 2.2% during December 13-26. Moreover, UP, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Bihar recorded the least positivity rate of below 1% for the period concerned.

Maharashtra To Keep Existing Lockdown Measures Intact Till November 30
Owing to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, the Maharashtra government on October 29 decided to keep the existing lockdown measures intact till November 30. However, the government has earlier this month permitted hotels and bars to operate at 50% capacity. It also requested zonal railways to resume a limited number of suburban trains. Maharashtra is the worst affected state with over 130,286 active cases and at least 43,554 deaths.

Covid-19: Kerala Surpasses Maharashtra, Records 11,755 New Cases
