West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on April 21 announced that the state government has allocated Rs 100 crore for COVID-19 vaccination. She said the universal vaccination drive will begin on May 5, days after the announcement of the West Bengal Assembly elections results on May 2. Questioning the variations in the vaccine price for the Centre, states and private firms, CM Mamata said she would write to PM Narendra Modi.

Reliance Foundation Chairman Nita Ambani has announced that the business house will bear the full cost of the COVID-19 vaccination for its employees, their spouses, children, and parents.
