India reported 1,968 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 fatalities in the last 24 hours, on October 5. A recovery rate of 98.74% has been recorded in the country, taking the gutka active caseload to 34,598. India’s daily positivity rate stands at 1.29%, and weekly positivity rate at 1.39%. Furthermore, India has administered over 218.68 crore cumulative doses of COVID vaccine, since the beginning of the pandemic.

A recovery rate of 98.73% has been recorded in the country, taking the total active caseload to 37,444. India’s daily positivity rate stands at 1.29%, and weekly positivity rate at 1.39%. Furthermore, India has administered over 218.68 crore cumulative doses of COVID vaccine, since the beginning of the pandemic.

India reported 4,272 new cases of COVID-19 and 27 fatalities in the last 24 hours on September 29. Of the total fatalities, 16 were reported in Kerala. A recovery rate of 98.72% has been recorded in the country, taking the total active caseload to 40,750. Furthermore, India has administered over 218 crore cumulative doses of COVID vaccine, since the beginning of the pandemic.

Renowned infectious disease specialist Dr Om Shrivastava, who was also a member of the state Covid taskforce, passed away after prolonged illness. Shrivastava, 55, took his last breathe on September 28, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mumbai.  “Deeply sad to lose a close friend, a colleague and a fellow researcher Dr Shrivastav. He was a thinker, teacher and clinician," said Covid task-force member Dr Shashank Joshi

In India, 3,230 new Covid-19 cases were reported, which is lowest in the past 3 months, taking the active cases tally to 42,358. On September 27, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirmed 32 deaths and 4,255 recoveries in the past 24 hours. With this, India has 0.10% active cases rate, 98.72% recovery rate and fatality rate at 1.12%. In addition, 217.82 crore Covid-19 vaccine were administered.
