MP Domestic Worker Receives Rs 2.5 Lakh As Electricity Bill

Rambai Prajapati, a domestic helper in MP's Guna district was dumbfounded when she was asked to pay her electricity bill for Rs 2.5 lakh. The 65-year-old lives in a hut with a table fan and a bulb. However, for the past seven days, she has been chasing the power department in order to rectify her bill. The officials, however, have refused to assist her.

Kerala Electricity Board Uproots Trees for Hydro Project; Kadars Continue Agitation

Amid consistent protests for community rights by Kadars (a tribal group), Kerala Electricity Board has started felling eight-hectares forest for Anakkayam Hydropower project. The project is said to require blasting in the buffer-zone of Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, which can submerge stretches of evergreen-forests with highly endemic animal-species.
