CM Yogi Adityanath Meets Chauhan's Family, Who Died In TN Crash

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, on December 10, met with the family of Prithvi Singh Chauhan, the Wing Commander of the IAF.  As per reports, he was one of the personnel who died in the recent IAF chopper crash along with General Bipin Rawat. However, Yogi's Government has provided a job assurance to his family, Rs 50 lakh compensation, and promised to name an Institute after Commander Prithvi Singh.

SC Not Satisfied With SIT's Probe In Lakhimpur Kheri Violence

While hearing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, the Supreme Court said on November 8 that it's not satisfied with the SIT's probe in the case. The apex court told the UP government's advocate Harish Salve that ''we granted 10 days' time...lab reports haven't come so far.'' The SC also said it was ''inclined to appoint a judge...to monitor day-to-day investigation''. The next hearing will be held on November 12.

Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Reports 10 Cases Of Zika Virus

Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district reported 10 cases of Zika virus, the government said on November 1. Reportedly, the new cases were detected following the surveillance and testing were ramped up when the state reported its first case of the virus in October. The disease spread through infected mosquitoes. Notably, CM Yogi Adityanath already ordered the health officials to conduct door-to-door sanitisation and fogging drives.

Public Servants Must Submit 'No-dowry Affidavit': UP Government

Uttar Pradesh Women's Welfare Department has issued a new circular, dated October 12, to all the state government employees to submit a ''no-dowry affidavit'' by October 18 to eradicate the dowry system. The circular is to be followed by all the employees who got married after April 31, 2004. Reportedly, if anyone fails to submit the affidavit, all the heads of departments and commissioners can take action against them.

SC Expresses Disappointed Over UP Govt's Action: lakhimpur Kheri Case

After hearing the Lakhimpur Kheri case, the Supreme Court has expressed disappointment over the UP government's action in New Delhi. Furthermore, the Chief Justice of India N V Ramanna said, ''There is no action and just words...Because the persons involved''. The CJI also said the government should take action and directed the DGP to protect the evidence. The Court will next hear the case after Dusshera on October 20.

UP Govt To Provide Rs 45 Lakh As Compensation To Lakhimpur Farmers

In the latest development of the Lakhimpur violence case, the Uttar Pradesh government has on October 4 said that the compensation of Rs 45 lakh and a government job would be provided to the bereaved families of four farmers who died during the protest. Moreover, the injured ones will receive Rs 10 lakh. Reportedly, around eight people lost their lives among which four of them were BJP workers.

Yogi Govt To Extend Doctor's Retirement Age From 65 To 70

To be prepared before the third wave of COVID-19, the Yogi government has planned to increase the retirement age of doctors from 65 to 70 in Uttar Pradesh. The proposal to extend the age is expected to get the approval of the cabinet at ease considering the upcoming assembly election. However, there is only one doctor on 19,962 patients in UP which is less than 17,759 from Delhi.

UP Govt Shuts Schools & Colleges For 3 Days Following Heavy Rainfall

Uttar Pradesh government on September 16 stated that all schools and colleges will be closed for the next three days in the wake of continuous rainfall in the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also warned against more rainfall and said it would continue in north India until September-end. Reportedly, the rains have taken the lives of 14 people in the state so far.
