Railways Shut 107-Year-Old Billimora-Waghai Heritage Train Service
The Railway ministry has ordered for a permanent closure of the 107-year-old Gujarat’s Billimora-Waghai heritage train, calling it "uneconomic". Started in 1913 by British, 63 Km narrow gauge train service was mainly used by the tribal to carry their vegetables to Billimora. Moreover, the labourers working in chickoo and mango farms of Billimora used this. However, the service has been stopped since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gujarat Police Collect Over Rs 93 Crore From COVID Violators
Gujarat has collected Rs 93.56 crore as penalty from 21.40 lakh persons, till December 5, for violating the COVID-19 rules, stated the official data. The violations included not wearing masks and spitting in public places. “Till now we have filed 60,400 cases under Indian Penal Code section 188 for disobedience to order given by public servant," added the official statement. Rajkot COVID Hospital Fire: Hospital Chairman, Operating Members Booked
Rajkot police have registered a case against the chairman of Uday Shivanand COVID-19 hospital Dr prakash Modha, his son, and three doctors in the fire accident , which killed five patients. 5 Killed In Fire Accident At Rajkot's COVID-19 Hospital
Due to a fire allegedly caused by a short-circuit, five people have died in Uday Shuvanand Hospital in Gujarat's Rajkot in the wee hours of November 27. Reportedly, the deceased aged between 60 and 70. According to Rajkot Municipal Commissioner, three people have died on the spot. Additionally, two died while being shifted to another hospital. The fire department has rescued 30 patients and moved them to a private hospital.

11 Dead And 17 Injured In A Road Accident in Gujarat
Eleven people died and 17 others have been hospitalised after two trucks collided on the Waghodia Crossing Highway on November 18 at Vadodara, Gujarat. The accident took place while the victims were travelling from Surat to Pavagadh. However, the deceased and injured has been admitted to Vadodara's Sayaji Hospital. Moreover, OM Birla, a member of Lok Sabha offered his condolences to the family members of the deceased.

Gujrati Actor-Director Ashish Kakkad Dies At 49
Gujrati Filmmaker Ashish Kakkad passed away on November 2 in Kolkata due to cardiac arrest. The 49-year-old actor-director was in Kolkata to attend his son's birthday celebrations. He was praised for his progressive projects such as Better Half (2010) and Mission Mummy (2016). Kakkad had also tried acting in Abhishek Kapoor’s 'Kai Po Che!' in 2013. Reportedly, his body will be brought to Ahmedabad for final rites.

Gujarat: Earthquake of 3.6 Magnitudes Witnessed in Kutch
Gujarat's Kutch district, a very high-risk seismic zone experienced a mild earthquake of 3.6 magnitudes on October 25 at 8:18 AM. Authorities from the Institute of Seismological Research, Gandhinagar claimed that the earthquake was detected with an epicentre 12 Km west-south-west of Anjar town in Kutch and had a depth of 19.5 Km. Reportedly, no injuries or destruction of property were recorded.

Gujarat: 36 Bodies Donated In 10 Years For Medical Studies By Surat Family
The Savani Family in Surat has donated 36 bodies in the past 10 years to various medical colleges. Reportedly, the family had taken an oath, according to which the body of any member who dies will be donated for medical students. Interestingly, this oath has also turned into a campaign in Surat, encouraging body donations for medical colleges. Medical colleges with over 250 students need around 30-35 bodies every year.
