Houses In Low-lying Districts Flooded By Yamuna River, Driving Residents Onto Delhi Streets

Low-lying regions in Delhi have been inundated by the Yamuna's overflow water as a result of the city's ongoing rains. After their homes were inundated, people were forced to live on the streets of Delhi. On August 14, however, the Yamuna river was running at 204.91 meters, well below the danger line of 205.33 meters. The overflowing Yamuna river swamped low-lying regions near Mayur Vihar Phase I and Akshardham Temple.

Maharashtra Govt Proposes Houses To Mill Workers Under PMAY

Aiming for development for poor, the Maharashtra State Housing Department led by Jitendra Awhad held a meeting with the Mill Workers Union representatives. During the meeting, the housing department proposed to allot 75,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) houses in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Notably, the houses under the PMAY will be given to those who do not have houses in the country and would apply under the scheme.

3 Crore Houses Built In Rural & Urban Areas Under PM Awas Yojana Scheme

PM Narendra Modi on April 8, stated that about three crore house were built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He further stated that the houses have become the "symbol of women empowerment". Reportedly, Rs 1.95 lakh crore was sanctioned for the construction of 2.52 crore houses under the Awas Yojana (rural) scheme. Meanwhile, Rs 1.18 lakh crore was sanctioned for ghe construction of 58 lakh houses under urban scheme.
