Ahead of the Assam assembly polls, the Election Commission on February 26 directed the state government to revoke the transfer of 12 IAS and six Assam Police Services officers. Reportedly, the Assam Government order came after EC declared the dates that lead to immediate enforcement of the Moral Code of Conduct. While Assam will witness three-phase assembly polls from March 27 to April 6, counting has been scheduled for May 2.

In a big bureaucratic rejig, the Rajasthan Government on January 5 transferred 288 administrative officers. The list included 77 IAS and IPS officers, 28 officers from the Indian Forest Services and 183 from the Rajasthan Administrative Services. On September 14, Haryana's IAS officer Rajesh Khullar was appointed as the Executive Director of the World Bank. He will hold the post for three years in Washington DC. Khullar will represent India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Khullar has held various top administrative posts in Haryana and across India. The executive directors of the World Bank group will be appointed or elected by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet.
