Viral on July 11 video, Kanwariyas (devotees of Shiva) are seen vandalising and overturning an elderly couple's car. Many Twitter user invoked 'Islamophobia' saying the Muslim couple had to go through this hardship just because there was minor incident involving their car. However, police denied communal angle and launched an investigation.

Shrine Board at Raj Bhawan will hold a meeting to decide the dates of the annual Amarnath Yatra, 2023. As per sources, the final dates to the shrine of lord Shiva in Amarnath is something which devotees wait for eagerly. The 45-day pilgrimage yatra takes place usually in the month of July-August, marked as the holy month of "Shravan." The yatra begins with Pratham pujan, or the first prayer.

Man detained after disguising as Lord Shiva and woman as goddess Parvati who protested against rising prices of fuel, food, and other commodities in Assam on July 9 sparking controversy. The gates of the Kedarnath temple were closed for the winter season on November 6. Ahead of the closing of portals, priest Baghesh Ling performed the rituals at 8 AM, reported PTI. The five-face idol of Baba Kedar was now shifted to the Omakareshwar temple at Ukhimath for worship during the season. Reportedly, over 2.4 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine since the Chardham Yatra began in September.

UP government has decided to allow the Kanwar Yatra of Lord Shiva from July 25. Directing the official to ensure strict COVID-19 protocol on July 9, CM Yogi Adityanath said, ''There shouldn't be any hesitation regarding the safe and successful operation of Kanwar Yatras.'' The pilgrims travel to Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri, and Sultanganj for collecting holy water to offer Lord Shiva.
