Assam Directorate, ACB Arrested Assam ASI For Taking Bride Red Handed
The Assam Directorate Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) red-handed for taking a bribe. Home Minister Amit Shah On 3-Day Visit To Sikkim, Assam
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has left for Sikkim and Assam on a three-day visit on October 6. He is scheduled to inaugurate the Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave 2022 at Sikkim’s Gangtok on October 7. A series of other programs awaits in Assam, for the Home Minister. BJP president JP Nadda is also scheduled to arrive in the Northeast to inaugurate party’s biggest office in the region.

Speeding Car Rams Into Parked Truck In Assam; 3 Dead
In Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district, a speeding car rammed into a parked truck on October 6. The accident reportedly occurred on the roadside on National Highway 37 (NH37) at Nazirakhat area near Sonapur, which is about 25 kms from Guwahati. The incident left three persons dead, including the driver of the car, who died on the spot. The bodies were immediately sent for post-mortem.

Assam Police Rescue 14 Cattle, Foil Smuggling Bid; 2 Arrested
The police of Assam foiled a cattle smuggling attempt in the Jorabat area and arrested two persons regarding the same, on October 5. The police reportedly intercepted a truck carrying cattle along the Assam-Meghalaya border. It was later found out that the truck was supposed to deliver the cattle from Morigaon district to Meghalaya’s Byrnihat. Furthermore, 14 cattle were recovered form their possession.

Assam’s Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Now Open For Tourists
The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve situated in Assam, was opened for tourists on October 2. Reportedly, the park is partially open for keep safari in two ranges- Kaziranga Range, Kohora and Western Range in Bagori. The park was officially reopened for tourists this season (2022-23), by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sadhguru on September 23. Furthermore, CM Sarma also unveiled three rhino statues at Kaziranga’s Mihimukh.

Assam Police Rescue 34 Cattle Heads From Smugglers
In Assam’s Nagaon district, the police foiled a smuggling attempt, and rescued 34 cattle heads from a bus, on October 1. This has come after the police received intel about the cattle smuggling near Kaliabor area, following which a checking was conducted. The driver and others fled the spot after seeing the police, and the police were able to rescue the cattle.

Assam Police Launch Operation Against Gamblers; 5 Arrested
Ahead of the Durga Puja festival, Assam police launched a massive operation to crackdown gamblers. In light of which, five persons have been caught and arrested “red-handed” while they were involved in gambling. Reportedly, the accused were involved in the act of gambling, in a house in Palashgiri village of Kokrajhar district, on September 29. The police also seized Rs 15,500 of gambling materials from their possession.

Seven Go Missing After Boat Capsizes In Assam’s Dhubri
At least seven persons have gone missing in the Brahmaputra river, after a boat they were on capsized in Assam’s Dhubri district. The boat was reportedly carrying a team of experts, who were on their way to inspect erosion near an under-construction bridge. The wooden boat reportedly hit something, due to which it capsized. A search and rescue operation is underway. Further details are awaited.

Raids Conducted Across 6 States To Crackdown PFI; 75 Taken Into Preventive Custody
Police along with investigating agencies conducted raids in another major crackdown against Popular Front of India (PFI) on September 27. Reportedly, the raids are being conducted in Assam, Karnataka, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Over 75 PFI and SDPI workers have been taken into preventive custody. Furthermore, cases have been booked under Sections 108 and 151 of CrPC.

Police Complaint Filed Against Assam CM Himanta Sarma & Sadhguru For Night Jeep Safari At Kaziranga National Park
A police complaint has been filed against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sadhguru for allegedly violating the wildlife protection laws. The complaint has come after the duo went on a night keep safari to the Kaziranga National Park. Sarma retaliated, stating that there is law that prohibits visiting a national park at night. The complainants claimed that visiting the park beyond the working hours, is a violation.
