The Maharashtra Government finally cleared the implementation of 80km +/-320 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line between Kudus and Aarey Colony, announced on May 14. Maharashtra Govt To Mandate Face Mask If COVID-19 Surge Continues

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra Government is likely to bring mandatory face masks in the State. Considering the rise in COVID-19 cases, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope, on May 1 said, "If COVID-19 cases continue to rise, then we will have to make the wearing of masks compulsory". Bandh Against Lakhimpur Violence Not Sponsered By State: Maharashtra Govt

The Bombay HC reviewed a petition filed by the former Mumbai Police Commissioner, alleging that the Maharashtra Government was behind the October 2021 protest regarding the Lakhimpur violence incident. However, the Maha-Vikas Aghadi government denied the allegations and said, "No cabinet decision was taken to call for a statewide bandh”. Notably, the October 11, 2021 bandh resulted in the loss of Rs 3,000 Crore to the public exchequer.

Maharashtra Govt Lifts All COVID-19 Restrictions: Jitendra Awhad

In a relief to Maharashtra citizens, the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government announced to lift all COVID-19 curbs in the State. On March 31, minister Jitendra Awhad announced the decision, in light of the declining number of COVID-19 cases in the state. MLAs Need To Pay For Houses Under Mumbai Project: Jitendra Awhad

Maharashtra Minister Jitendra Awhad clarified that no MLAs will be getting free houses under the 'New Mumbai Project'. After the Mahavikash Aghadi announced to construct houses for MLAs. He tweeted, "I would like to clarify that the homes will not be given for free. The land price + construction cost (expected expenses Rs 70 lakh) will be recovered from the MLAs concerned". Pune's ACB Unit Books Government Doctor For Accepting Bribe: Maha

Maharashtra's Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked a medical superintendent in Pune at a sub-district hospital and has been fined for accepting bribe. Dr. Amit Hindurao Desai, an accused has been identified by the ACB. However, as per the Press Release, Mr Desai was supposed to visit another hospital to check if any wrong or illegal practices are going on. However, the case is being further investigated.
