Mumbai Gold Smuggling: Customs Seize 12 Kg Gold Worth Rs 5.38 Cr, Detains 6 Persons
Mumbai Airport customs on September 11, seized 12 Kg gold worth Rs 5.38 crore in the airport. A Sudanese passenger reportedly smuggled the gold wearing a specially belt. Repeatedly, some passengers tried to facilitate his escape, but was overpowered. Furthermore, six persons have been detained in connection to the incident, and six others are being deported, as per a statement released by Customs.

Nashik Forest Officials Rescue Young Female Leopard: Maharashtra
The forest department in Maharashtra’s Nashik, has rescued a female leopard of three to four years old, September 6. Reportedly, the leopard was found in Nashik’s Deoli camp area, and will now be released into the forest by the department. The officials stated that the leopard is in a healthy condition. Earlier on September 5, four persons were arrested in Nashik for leopard skin smuggling.

Cyrus Mistry’s Death: Ratan Tata’s Stepmother Attends Funeral In Wheelchair
Following the death of the Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry, Ratan Tata’s stepmother attended the funeral in a wheelchair. Mistry who suffered a fatal road accident, was cremated in Mumbai, on September 6. Simone Tata (92) arrived at the crematorium in a special van. Various family members, industrialists, businessmen and politicians were present at the crematorium. Further details are awaited.

Cyrus Mistry Death Case: Doctor Suggests Head Injury
Cyrus Mistry who was brought to a government hospital in Kasa, reportedly suffered head injuries, informed the doctor who attended him. Reportedly, former Tata Sons chairman rammed his car into a divider, was declared “brought dead” at the hospital. The Palghar police stated that the business tycoon was en route from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in his car. Meanwhile, of the four persons travelling in the car, two died on spot.

Dawood Ibrahim’s Brother Iqbal Kaskar Admitted To Hospital Following Chest Ache: Mumbai
Fugitive Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar was admitted to JJ hospital in Mumbai, after he complained of chest ache. He was then declared to be in a stable condition, and has been taken back to Thane jail. He was sent to the custody of Enforcement Directorate on February 18 under the PMLA Act, for alleged money laundering. In the same case, police also raided Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parker’s residence.

MNS Workers Manhandled Woman In Mumbai, Arrested
In Maharashtra's Mumbai, three men including a local leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were detained for their alleged manhandling and misbehaviour with a woman, confirmed police on September 2. The incident came into light after a viral video. Furthermore, the victim Prakash Devi said, "I declined and told them to install it (banner) somewhere else, so they hit me...no woman should go through this."

Three MNS Workers Arrested For Assaulting Elderly Woman: Mumbai
Maharashtra police arrested three MNS workers after a video of them abusing, assaulting and pushing an elderly woman went viral on social media. The accused have been identified as Vinod Argyle, Raju Argyle and Satish Lad, and case under sections 323, 337, 506, 504 and 509 of IPC. Reportedly, the accused were installing a bamboo structure to hang a banner in front of a shop, to which the woman opposed.

Gaiety Cinema Hall In Mumbai To Remain Shut Till Sep 9: Manoj Desai
Cinema halls in Mumbai, including Maratha Mandi, G7 Multiplex are to remain shut till September 9. "The Free Press Journal" confirmed the same with Manoj Desai, the Executive Director of G7 Multiplex said, "Films are not working well these days and if this continues, then we'll shut Gaiety Cinema till September 9." He further added, other cinema halls will be open, until a fix decision taken, after meeting soon.

US Senator Jon Ossoff To Visit India, Aiming To Strengthen Bilateral Ties
United States Senator Jon Ossoff is scheduled to visit India on August 30, to strengthen the bilateral ties. The visit is aimed at strengthening economic, scientific, cultural and security ties between the nations. Ossoff, a Senator from the state of Georgia, will lead the delegation for an eight-day stay in India. They are expected to arrive at Mumbai on August 30, and depart from Delhi on September 6.
