Lightning Kills Boy, Leaves 3 Injured: Maharashtra

A 15-year-old boy was killed and three other minors were injured after lightning struck them when they climbed a tree in search of a mobile phone network in Maharashtra's Palghar district, on June 29. According to Rahul Sargang (revenue officer), the four boys were stuck under a heavy rainfall while grazing cattle, meanwhile, they climbed a tree and that lightning hit them. The injured ones are undergoing treatment in a rural hospital.

UN Report Reveals 7,348 Disasters In 20 Years; Climate Change To Blame

A United Nations (UN) report titled 'The Human Cost of Disasters 2000-2019' has revealed that a whooping 7,348 disasters were recorded between 2000-2019 as compared to 4,212 disasters between 1980-1999. Category 2 Hurricane 'Delta' Hits Louisiana; No Casualties Reported

With 155 kmph strong winds, Hurricane Delta made a landfall in south-western Louisiana causing destruction of properties. However, no casualties have been reported yet. The authorities warned people not to go on streets on October 10 as sea-storms along Louisiana Coast were forecasted. Reportedly, Delta hit the region that was already devastated by Hurricane Laura, which killed 27 people, in August.
