A huge amount of arms and ammunition has been seized by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), on July 13. Reportedly, the arms and ammunition belonged to the Naxals, and the seizure was carried out in Bihar's Gaya. The seized items include one AK rifle, 250 ammo, 65 pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 446 Series IED, 101 Can IED and 495 Detonators.

The Top CPI Maoist leader Prashant Bose alias ''Kishan da'' and his wife Sheela Marandi were arrested by Jharkhand police from the Kolhan region on November 14. Bose was carrying a reward of Rs 1 crore on his arrest. ''He was one of the topmost Naxal leaders in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh. He was associated with the Naxal movement from the 1960s,'' said Niraj Sinha, DGP.

The continued efforts of the government to counter the Naxalisit in Bihar have resulted in good news. In the latest development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has declared six out of 16 Naxal-affected districts in Bihar as Naxal-free. The districts include; Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Arwal, and East Champaran. Earlier, the MoHA had declared seven districts as Naxal-free. Maoists in Chhattisgarh on April 8 released the CRPF CoBRA jawan, Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, who was kidnapped by the Naxals on April 3. The jawan was missing since the deadly clash between the Naxals and security personnel at the Sukma-Bijapur border in the state. Family members of the soldier expressed happiness and thanked the government for ensuring his safe release. Earlier, relatives of Rakeshwar had staged a protest as well.
