Govt Data Shows 348 Deaths, 1,189 Tortured In Police Custody
In response to MP Karti Chidambaram's query on police violence against the civilians, MoS for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai notified Lok Sabha on August 3. Reportedly, a total of 348 accused have died and 1,189 were tortured in police custody between 2018-2021, as per National Human Rights Commission's Data. Between 2020-2021, over 100 deaths and 236 people were tortured.

14-Year-Old Boy Impregnates Minor Girl In Melur, Arrested
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested by the police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012, for impregnating a minor girl in Tamil Nadu's Melur. Reportedly, the boy and the girl were classmates in a nearby school and infatuated with each other thus involved in a physical relationship without knowing the implication. Later the girl complained of ill health, resulting in the revelation of the truth.
