Congress Demands Suspension Of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri

The Congress took strong objections to BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri's remarks in the Lok Sabha and demanded his suspension from the House. Terming the remarks as an insult to all MPs, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the apology offered by Union Minister Rajnath Singh was a mere eyewash and not sufficient. Strict action should be taken against him, he demanded on September 22.

Sonia Gandhi To Open Debate Over Women's Reservation Bill In Lok Sabha

Sonia Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) will open the debate in the Lok Sabha session and will discuss the Women's Reservation Bill. Notably, the Congress is raising claims that tabled by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and the BJP Government, the idea was of Congress. The bill which is yet to be approved and pass will provide 33% reservation to women in politics.

Rahul Gandhi is reinstated as the Member of Parliament (MP) of Wayanad, Karnataka. The Supreme Court (SC) recently stayed the conviction orders of the Gujarat High Court (HC) against Rahul Gandhi, in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation Case. The stay on Gandhi’s conviction made him eligible to return to the Lok Sabha, and had to wait for a formal order from the secretariat to re-enter the Lok Sabha.

On July 31, the Lok Sabha passed a Bill to curb the menace of film piracy, revamp age-based certification given by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) as well as uniformity in the categorisation of films and content across platforms. The Cinematograph (Amendment ) Bill 2023 was released.
