16 Missing Mariners Including 3 Indians Rescued From International Waters Near Malaysia
About sixteen missing mariners including three Indian nationals have been rescued from the international waters near Malaysia, on August 26. The swift rescue operation was carried out successfully by the Indian coast guard. Notably, the coordination of three nations in the Indo-pacific region (India, Singapore and Malaysia), has increased the capabilities of Indian coast guard. Further details on the matter are awaited.

CM Stalin Appeals To EAM, Requesting Help In Releasing Fishermen From Sri Lankan Navy
MK Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, urged on July 4 that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar take urgent steps for the immediate release of 12 Indian fishermen detained by the Sri Lankan Navy. Seven of the 12 detained Indian fishermen are from Tamil Nadu, while five are from Puducherry. He also stated Tamil Nadu fishermen had lately started fishing following a 61-day yearly prohibition that concluded on June 15.

Sri Lankan Navy Detains 51 People Attempting To Illegally Migrate To Australia
Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 51 individuals on July 3 who were trying to illegally migrate from Sri Lanka to Australia by sea. Due to the country's ongoing economic crisis, this was the fourth such instance in the previous week. On July 2, a team comprising the Navy, Sri Lanka Coast Guard, and police apprehended 24 people near Marawila on the western coast, all of them accused of illegally migrating to Australia.

India & France Begin 5-Day Naval Wargame In Arabian Sea: Varuna Exercise
India and France began their five-day mega naval exercise in the Arabian sea, on March 31. The excercise is carried out annually, and this is the 20th edition of 'Varuna' exercise. Oman Navy Commander Visits India, Indian Navy Chief Welcomes
Commander of Royal Navy Oman (CRVO) Admiral Saif Bin Nasser Bin Mohsin Al Rahbi, is on a visit to India. The Navy informed, Oman Navy Commander is in India from February 13-14, to consolidate bilateral relations with Indian Navy, aiming defence cooperation. R Hari Kumar, the Naval Commander Chief of India received Saif Bin. He is scheduled to visit Mumbai Dockyard and discuss bilateral relations.

Shipowners Alleges Indonesian Navy Asks Money To Release Ships

Vice Admiral Satish Namdeo Ghormade To Be New Vice Chief Of Navel Staff
The Indian government has appointed the new Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral Satish Namdeo Ghormade following the retirement of Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar on July 31. Reportedly, Ghormade had earlier served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff at the headquarters. Besides, he has been serving the Navy since 1984. Moreover, the President of India awarded him the Nau Sena Medal in 2007.

Sri Lankan Navy Frees 54 Indian Fisherman Arrested On March 24
The Indian authorities have stated that Sri Lanka has released 14 more fishermen on March 27 after releasing 40 on March 26. Reportedly, the 54 fishermen were earlier arrested and five trawlers were seized on March 24 by the Sri Lankan Navy for crossing and fishing in the International maritime borders. The Indian High Commission to Sri Lanka said that bilateral mechanisms are being utilised to solve the humanitarian issue.
