Republic Day: High Alert Sounded By BSF On Jammu Border
A high alert has been sounded by Border Security Force in Jammu to foil any possible incident, ahead of Republic Day. In a statement on January 24, BSF said that in view of present scenario and inputs on Republic Day, security has been on high alert on border. The statement reads, "monitoring of suspicious activities is being carried, while joint patrolling is being conducted to avert any possible attempt".

Kids, Unvaccinated People To Be Barred From R-Day Celebration: COVID-19
To avoid COVID-19 amongst kids and unvaccinated people, the Delhi Police issued guidelines. No Foreign Guests For Republic Day Celebrations Amid Ongoing 3rd Wave
Amid the ongoing third wave, Central Government called off the plans to invite chief guests from Central Asia, for Republic Day celebrations. The Central Asian states and India are now focusing on a virtual summit of the leadership of the six countries, reported by a foreign diplomat. The possibility of inviting an alternative chief guest has been ruled out. Reportedly, India witnessed a single day spike of 2,58,089 COVID cases.

1000 Drones To Display Multiple Formations In Sky On R-Day
For the first time, a drone show with 1,000 drones will be held during the Republic Day celebration this year, a Defence Ministry official confirmed on January 18. The official said that Beating Retreat event will also witness projection mapping as a part of celebration. Notably, India will be the fourth country after China, Russia, and UK to perform a drone show.

R-Parade To Begin 30 Minutes Late, 1st Time In History
The Republic Day parade is set to begin 30 minutes late, from scheduled 10:00 am, on January 26. This will be the first time that the parade will begin late, amid COVID-19 restrictions and homage paid to security personnel who lost lives in Jammu and Kashmir on duty, said an official. Meanwhile, beginning from 10:30 am, the 90-minute-long parade at Red Fort will showcase diversity of India on the R-Day.

India To Invite 5 Asian Countries As Chief Guest For Republic Day
India has decided to invite leaders of five central Asian countries as the chief guest for Republic Day in 2022. The five countries include Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. However, Kazakhstan is the only country which has been the chief guest for the occasion in 2009. Besides, New Delhi is set to host the Central Asian, India Foreign Minister's meet on December 18 and 19.

Actor Deep Sidhu Arrested In R-Day Tractor Rally Violence Case
The Delhi Police on February 9 arrested actor-activist Deep Sidhu for his alleged role in the Republic Day tractor rally violence. Reportedly, protesting farmers had also accused him of fueling the violence at the tractor rally and the Red Fort on January 26. While different teams of the police had been tracing the actor, the Delhi Police had also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for providing leads on the actor.
