Former Congress Leader Kapil Sibal Files Rajya Sabha Nomination On SP Ticket

Congress leader Kapil Sibal announced to quit party and filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat on Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket. On May 24, the ex-congress leader filed his nomination in presence of the SP President Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. He said, "It is important to be an independent voice in parliament. If an independent voice speaks up then people will believe it is not from any political party".

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan Released From Sitapur Jail On Interim Bail: UP

Azam Khan, a senior Samajwadi Party politician, was discharged from the Sitapur prison in Uttar Pradesh on May 20. He had been in prison for the previous 27 months on many charges, involving land grabbing. On May 19, the Supreme Court granted him temporary release. His release from prison was made possible by the issuance of temporary bail.

Azam Khan Granted Interim Bail In Case Of Wrongful Possession Of Waqf Board Property: UP

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan has been granted interim bail by Allahabad High Court in a case related to wrongful possession of land, on May 10. Charge-Sheet Filed Against SP MLA For Violating Model Code

A charge-sheet has been filed against Samajwadi Party MLA Brajesh Yadav over his breach of the Model Code of Conduct amid the recent Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh. A case was registered based on a video circulating on social media, which shows Yadav making a provocative speech against his political rivals. The charge-sheet was filed against him in a Budaun court.

A man from Uttar Pradesh who was a supporter of the Samajwadi Party, got into a bet over assembly elections with a BJP supporter. The man bet his bike and the other bet his auto. As the SP supporter lost the bet, he had to give up his bike. Reportedly, he got a call from Akhilesh Yadav who gave a chain and told him not to indulge in bets again.

SP Leader Azam Khan Gets Bail In Jal Nigam Recruitment Scam Case: UP

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, granted bail to former Urban Development Minister Azam Khan in connection with the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam recruitment scam, on March 11. Notably, Khan is currently in Sitapur Jail and was booked for committing irregularity in the appointments of 1342 recruiters during Akhilesh Yadav's regime. Furthermore, in 2017, the BJP Government came into power, they ordered SIT probe in the case.

Akhilesh Yadav Extends Gratitude To Voters For 111 Seats In UP Assembly Elections

Extending gratitude to the voters in Uttar Pradesh, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav  said, “We have shown that the BJP's seats can be reduced.  The fall for the BJP will continue.  Half of the misunderstanding has gone, the other half will go too." Notably, in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the SP secured 111 seats, whereas the BJP secured 255 seats. The SP said to have performed better in the UP 2022 elections.

Attempts of Self-harm Reported Outside Lok Bhawan In Lucknow

A 40-year-old man claiming to be a worker of the Samajwadi Party attempted self-immolation on March 10. The incident happened in the afternoon, outside the Lok Bhawan in Lucknow, UP. Police identified the man as Narendra Singh, from Kanpur who also recited political slogans before that. The man splashed himself with inflammable material and set himself on fire, said the police.
