INS Airavat Ferrying COVID-19 Supplies Leaves Singapore Coast To India

Indian warship INS Airavat on May 5 headed to India with the COVID-19 emergency supplies from Singapore's Changi Naval Base as a part of Operation Samudra Sethu II. The Indian High Commission stated that the shipment consists of 3,650 oxygen cylinders of varying capacities and concentrators. The shipment is also ferrying 8 ISO cryogenic oxygen tanks under a separate commercial agreements between Tata Group, ITC, and Linde Gas.

Singapore Kicks Off Vaccination With Pfizer's COVID-19 Vaccine

Singapore on December 30 became the first Asian country to begin its vaccination programme with Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine. Over 30 staff at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases were among the first to receive the vaccine's shot. Moreover, the second dose of the vaccine will be administered on January 20. Reportedly, Singapore has signed to purchase other COVID vaccines, including those of Moderna and Sinovac, as well.

In A First, Singapore Approves Sale Of Lab-grown Meat

US-based start-up Eat Just has secured an approval from the Singapore government to sell lab-grown meat, which is created from cells of animal muscles. Reportedly, the meat will be sold as nuggets and though it was expected to cost around $50 each, the company's CEO said that it would be priced the same as premium chicken. The company aims to launch its products by the end of 2021.
