Bangalore City Gets Rail Link To Airport; Ticket Priced At Rs 10
Bangalore's much-awaited train service from the city railway station to Kempegowda International Airport, which is in the outskirts of the city was launched on January 4. The train would function at a fare which is much lesser than the cost of cabs and busses that were operated to the airport. After the commencement, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, "This will go a long way in enhancing last-mile connectivity".

Railway Sees 87% Dip In Passenger Revenue, Not Definite Over Normalcy
Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav stated that the Indian Railways has seen an 87% drop in passenger revenue due to the pandemic. He also said, "It is not possible to give a definite date for the resumption of normal train services." Yadav added that while normal trains are suspended, 1,089 special trains are running on 30-40% occupancy. However, he hoped that the deficit in passenger revenue will be bridged by the freight revenue.

Dedicated Freight Train Corridor: Trial Run Achieves Up To 100 Kmph
For the first time, the Indian Railway has successfully tested its dedicated freight train corridor by operating a freight carrier at a speed of 100 km/h. The test run was completed on the 351-Km stretch of the eastern DFC Bhaupur-Khurja section. Moreover, the train registered an average speed of 70kmph. Reportedly, under the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) Project, two stretches of 1856 Km and 1504 Km are being developed.

Ahead Of Festivals, Railways To Run 196 Pairs of Special Trains From Oct 20
The Indian Railways has decided to operate 196 pairs of special trains ahead of the festive season. Reportedly, the 392 special trains will be operational between October 20 to November 30. Besides, the railways has also decided to keep the fare same as that of the other special trains. The Railway Ministry has said that the schedule of these trains will be announced by the Zonal Railways.

India's First Corporate Train 'Tejas' To Restart From October 17
IRCTC is set to restart operations of corporate train 'Tejas' from October 17 citing the influx of travellers during the upcoming festive season. The train will be back on tracks after a hiatus of seven months and operate between Lucknow - New Delhi and Ahmedabad - Mumbai. All the COVID-19 safety measures will be in place. Every alternate seat will be kept vacant and thermal screening of passengers will be mandatory.

Railway Protection Force Nabs 50 People For Illegal Train Ticket Scam
The Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Anil Kumar informed that at least 50 people were arrested on September 8 for booking train tickets illegally. Reportedly, the accused were using cryptocurrency to avoid leaving a money trail. Anil Kumar added that the group was involved in many such operations across the India, and the RPF has successfully unearthed its network.

Indian Railways to Run 'Clone' Trains to Reduce Wait-listed Passengers
Indian Railways has planned to run 'clone' trains to ferry wait-listed passengers. The 'clone' trains will be an alternative to actual trains , and will function on the routes with heavier passenger load. The 'clone' train is similar to 'Vikalp Scheme'. Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Slows Down
India's first bullet train may fail to meet the 2023 deadline citing various issues. Reportedly, low participation by Japanese companies, cancellation of tenders owing to high rates by bidders, and the coronavirus pandemic are few of the reasons for the delay. Sources suggest that the deadline of the bullet train, slated to operate between Ahmedabad and Mumbai at a speed of 320km/h, has now been extended to 2028.

Noida To Resume Metro Services From September 7; Eight Hours A Day
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) official has confirmed that the city will resume the Aqua-Line services from September 7. However, the operational timings of the trains will be restricted between 7 AM to 11 AM in the morning and 5 PM to 9 PM in the evening with a 15 minutes frequency from Monday to Saturday. Passengers must wear masks and follow social-distancing guidelines.

Uttar Pradesh Government to Resume Metro Services from September 7
Following the Unlock 4.0 guidelines of the Union Home Ministry, Managing Director Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Kumar Keshav has confirmed that the state will resume metro services from September 7.
