PM Modi Invited To G7; UK PM Johnson Likely To Visit India Before Summit
The United Kingdom government has invited PM Narendra Modi to attend the G7 summit slated for June. Besides India, Australia and South Korea have also been invited to "deepen the expertise and experience around the table." Moreover, a press statement from British PM Boris Johnson's office has indicated that he "will visit India ahead of the G7". Earlier, PM Johnson had cancelled his India visit for R-Day citing new COVID strain.

MHA Extends COVID-19 Containment Guidelines Till January 31, 2021
Revising the existing guidelines to curb the COVID-19 outbreak, the Home Ministry has extended its validity till January 31. The Ministry said that number of positive cases decreasing every month. Karnataka Tests 1,587 Travellers For New Strain; 15 Turn Positive
Out of 1,587 UK passengers who have been tested for the new COVID-19 strain in Karnataka, 15 have turned positive. As per reports, 1,122 travellers are residents of Bangalore city and 204 passengers have been tagged "untraceable". The city's east and south zone have recorded the most number of travellers - 267 and 249 - untill December 27. A Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara Palike (BBMP) official said, "We're testing all contacts".
