Union Cabinet Approves Rs 76,000 Crore For Manufacturing Semiconductor Chips

The Union Cabinet, on December 15, approved Rs 76,000 crore for designing & manufacturing of semiconductor chips in India. Launched to enhance display manufacturing ecosystem, it will bring about a $5 trillion economy by 2025. The project will reportedly have effect on various sectors including electronics field. "In the next six years we will reach USD 300 billion in electronic and manufacturing," said Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

Union Cabinet Approves Bill To Repeal Three Farm Laws

The Union Cabinet approved the bill to repeal the three Farm Laws on November 24. In the upcoming Winter Parliament Session, the BJP government will clear the bill, withdrawing the laws. The decision came six day after PM Narendra Modi announced to repeal the laws on November 19. The Winter Session of Parliament Session is Scheduled to begin from November 29.

Cabinet Approves Model Tenancy Act To Overhaul Rental Housing

The Union Cabinet has approved the Model Tenancy Act, 2021 that aims to modify the legal framework of rental housing across India. Consisting 47 sections and two schedules, the act focuses upon securing the "interests and rights of both the landlord and tenant" by making tenancy agreement compulsory. The government, through this act, eyes to move towards fulfillment of PM Narendra Modi's vision of 'Housing for All' by 2022.

Cabinet Sanctions 5Kg Free Foodgrains To Poor For 2 Months Under PMGKAY

The Union on May 5 approved a retrospective order to distribute 5kgs free foodgrains to 79.88 crore PDS beneficiaries during May-June. Effective from May 1, the allocations will be made under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana-III. Announced in 2020 the scheme aims to combat COVID impact on poor. The allocation to states will be decided by Food Ministry on the existing ratio under the National Food Security Act.
