Govt Unlikely To Reduce Gap Between Second Dose & Booster Dose: COVID-19

Amid speculations regarding the Government of India planning to reduce the gap between the second dose and the booster dose, government sources have confirmed that there are currently no such plans. SII CEO Adar Poonawalla had earlier urged the government to cut down the gap between doses. Some experts have, however, suggested that the longer the gap is between the doses, the stronger the immunity develops in the vaccine recipient.

15.92 Cr COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Available With States, UTs: Union Govt

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed the availability of over 15.90crore vaccine doses for COVID-19 with states and union territories in India. On April 7, the Centre said, of the total 186.36 crore vaccine were provided of which, over 15 crores are still with States and UTs. It is to be noted, the nationwide vaccine drive started in January 2021, vaccinating the majority of population against the deadly Coronavirus.

135 Crore Covid-19 Vaccine Doses Administered Till Date: MoHFW

In India, a total of 1,35,94,88,700 Covid-19 vaccine doses were supplied to states and union territories (UTs), said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Of the total supply, 22,83,05,346 vaccine doses are available with states and UTs. Notably, the Centre procures 75% of vaccine doses from manufacturers, to supply across India, for free of cost, under the nationwide vaccination drive.

India Administers Highest Doses Of Vaccine So Far In Single Day

According to the Health Ministry's latest data of August 17, India administered over 88.13 lakh doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours categorising as the highest vaccination achieved to date. With this India also inoculated more than 55 crore vaccines. Besides, the ministry said India reported 25,166 new COVID-19 cases which is ''the lowest single-day rise in 154 days''. The total case in India stands at 3,22,50,679.
