4 Killed, 10 Injured In Balloon Cylinders Blast In MP, UP
Owing to two separate balloon gas cylinder blasts in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara and Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, four people lost their lives, and 10 suffered injuries on August 22. The deceased included a 40-year-old Geeta Devi and 30-year-old Lalla from Varanasi while a 40-year-old Tajuddin Ansari and 70-year-old Sheikh Ismail from Chhindwara. The injured ones have been admitted to a hospital and police have launched investigations.

PM Modi Praises UP For Handling Pandemic Efficiently
PM Modi commended Uttar Pradesh for the incredible handling of the pandemic's second wave during his visit to Varanasi on July 15. He said that UP which recorded 30,000 cases at the peak of the second wave compared to last year's single-day 7,016 cases, "stood up and battled the virus efficiently". He expressed his admiration for the state's vaccination numbers and its healthcare and frontline workers.

Varanasi Court Orders ASI To Survey Gyanvapi Mosque Over Temple Claims
The Archaeological Survey of India has got a nod from a Varanasi court to carry out a physical survey of Gyanvapi mosque, next to Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Hearing a three-decade old petition, the court ordered the ASI to constitute a five-member committee. The petition claimed that the mosque was built over an ancient temple demolished by Aurangzeb. However, the court has not stopped people from offering prayer at the mosque.

Varanasi To Raise Fund Through Municipal Bonds; Invest on Infrastructure
Varanasi is all set to become the second city in Uttar Pradesh to raise fund through the municipal bonds. In order to make Varanasi self-reliant, the civic body has been given a target of accumulating Rs 200 crore through these bonds. The funds solicited from the bonds will be invested in numerous infrastructure and development schemes, said the state government. The decision is presumed to improve the image of the civic body in public.

Gas Leak At IFFCO Phulpur Plant In Uttar Pradesh Kills Two People

4 UP Men Detained For Trying To Sell PM's Varanasi Office On OLX
Uttar Pradesh Police has detained four individuals for attempting to sell PM Narendra Modi's Varanasi office on OLX for sale. Reportedly, the ad posted by a man named Laxmikant Ojha held the interior details of the office and was listed under 'house and villa' category. Moreover, they had priced the property Rs 7.5 crore.
