Victoria Azarenka was beaten by Anna Karolina Schmeidlova with 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of the French Open on September 30. The 161-seeded Slovak stunned the US Open runner-up who made 37 unforced errors. Despite the slip fall on her left knee, Anna remained unaffected, and she eased through for a win. She took down Venus Williams in her first round and is set to face Nadia Podoroska.

French Open: Cold And Rainy Weather Frustrates Azarenka, Kovinic
Victoria Azarenka and opponent Danka Kovinic left the court thrice due to the cold winds and persistent drizzle in the French Open on September 27. After 15 minutes from the start, the game was suspended due to a cold temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. Later, the match was moved to another court that had a retractable roof. Azarenka managed to win 6-1, 6-2.

Victoria Azarenka on September 18 advanced to the quarterfinals of the Italian Open. However, it was her sporting spirit during the match that became the talk of the town. After her opponent Daria Kasatkina suffered a leg injury in-between the match, Victoria Azarenka gave Kasatkina an ice bag and consoled her when she broke down emotionally. Following injury, Kasatkina could not continue to play; consequently, Azarenka won the match.

Naomi Osaka Wins US Open 2020 Title; First Asian to Win 3 Grand Slams
On September 13, Naomi Osaka won her second US Open title and third Grand Slam title after beating Victoria Azarenka with 1-6,6-3,6-3. The 22-year-old Japanese star came from a set down to defeat the Belarusian to win the title. "I didn't really enjoy that. It was a really tough match for me." Osaka said after her victory." With this, Osaka has now bagged the third position in the WTA rankings.
