Ailing Indian tennis legend Akhtar Ali died at 83 in the early hours of February 7 in Kolkata. Known for his coaching style, Akhtar Ali had influenced several ace players, including Leander Paes and his own son Zeeshan Ali – current coach of the Davis Cup. Captaining and coaching Indian contingent, Akhtar had played eight Davis Cup ties between 1958 and 1964. Tennis players Vijay Amritraj and Somdev Devvarman expressed their grief through Twitter.
