Endemic Fauna Including State Bird Vanished: Manipur Forest Minister
Manipur Forest Minister Awangbow Naimai has revealed that several animals and birds have locally vanished in the past few decades. While the Javan rhinoceros, wild ox and pink-headed duck were last spotted around 50 years ago, the Manipur Jungle Bush Quail is absconding in its wetland habitat for the last 10 years. Moreover, he mentioned Brow-antlered deer, Slow Loris, state bird Nongin, Yellow-breasted bunting and Oriental Stork as state’s endemic endangered species.
