For people having trouble in absorbing vitamin D via sunlight, doctors have recommended supplementing the same with food. As per experts, people on medications, having obesity, and kidney or intestine complications are unable to absorb vitamin D via any source. Dietician Melissa Prest suggests consuming vitamin D supplements with fatty foods, including salmon, egg-yolks, higher-fat dairy products, and nuts. Besides, magnesium-rich pumpkin seeds, almonds and avocado are proven beneficial.
