ICMR's Report Suggests India Had 64 Lakh COVID Cases by May
According to a serological survey by ICMR, the number of COVID-19 cases in May might have reached 64 lakhs. However, India had officially recorded only 85,940 cases until mid-May. The survey revealed that less than 1% of adult population were exposed to the virus by that time. Experts opined that the test-strategy at the beginning was staggered, owing to low-availability of test kits and that many could have been asymptomatic.
