Indian Coast Guard Commissions Indigenous Ship 'Vajra' For Vigilance
Indian Coast Guard ship 'Vajra' (Thunderbolt) has been commissioned on March 24 at the Chennai Port Trust to improve coastal security. Designed and built by Larsen and Toubro Shipbuilding Ltd, it is sixth in the seven-series offshore patrol vessels. Reportedly, the ship is built with a state-of-the-art technology to facilitate enhanced maritime patrolling. Fitted with 30mm gun, automated power management and integrated bridge system, the OPV is a pollution-response equipment capable to curb oil spills.
