'Jhatka' Or 'Halal': Mentioning Mandatory In North Delhi's Shops, Restaurants
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation on March 30 mandated for restaurants and street-side shops to mention if the meat being sold is 'jhatka' or 'halal'. Jhatka is animal slaughtering in one go in contrast to the slow death in halal. The BJP-led NDMC has followed South Delhi where the same proposal was cleared in early January. Reportedly, areas like Chandni Chowk, Daryaganj, Kashmere gate and Sarojini Nagar predominantly sell non-veg items.
